How to file — Damage Compensation

The five steps

  1. File an incident report within 72 hours, online or at any regional office. Keep the receipt.
  2. Document the damage — photographs and an itemised loss schedule (the damage survey).
  3. Lodge the claim within 90 days of the incident, with the incident report receipt, damage survey, and proof of ownership or tenancy. Pay the assessment fee (see fee schedule).
  4. Assessor visit — within 15 business days of lodgement.
  5. Determination — within 45 days of lodgement. Awards are paid to the account named on the claim.

Claiming the hardship supplement? Include a household income certificate at step 3. Claiming business interruption? Include the business registration certificate.

Appeals lie to the Corridor Claims Tribunal within 30 days of determination.
